Funding Opportunities
There are several resources available to help principal investigators find funding for their projects. Below are several links and resources where PIs can begin their search for external funding.
Once an appropriate opportunity has been identified, here are some important tips to help get started.
- Read the funding announcement from the sponsor carefully to ensure fit with the project.
- Clearly identify what the sponsor is looking for in project proposals.
- Identify deadlines for submission and ensure that align with the time needed to write a competitive proposal.
- Proposals must be submitted to the ORSP pre-award specialist no later than 10 days prior to the sponsor’s due date.
- Check that the funds needed to complete the project align with the funds available from the sponsor.

Mercer University provides researchers access to SPIN through infoEd Global. This is an online database of funding opportunities from governments, foundations, and commercial entities around the world. Once a profile is created, daily or weekly alerts can be set up to identify new or modified funding opportunities that fit with current projects and key word searches.
SPIN access can be obtained through the Office of Research Compliance.
Additional funding opportunities may be found at these sites.
Many of these allow you to create profiles and sign up to receive new funding announcements.
